Play! By Sephora – October 2016 review

Soooo if you ladies didn’t know…  now ya know! YES! Sephora has a monthly box. It’s only $10 a month & it gives you samples of the products that they actually sell in store. You will receive 5 samples PLUS a bonus fragrance sample every month. It comes in an adorable re-usable bag and a pamphlet telling you all about the products inside. ALSO.. on the front of your product guide, you will receive a card. You bring the card into Sephora and you can get a free one-on-one tutorial for advice & 50 extra Beauty Insider Points when you purchase something. The card will expire at the end of the month also. Side note– one of the only things I’d change is this. I feel like we should have more online opportunities with the card. LET’S DIVE IN! 🙃

SMASHBOX Always On Matte Liquid Lipstick in Driver’s Seat ✨ full size: $24

Smashbox is pretty popular and I’ve never tried any of their liquid lipsticks. The swatch that I put on my hand barely budges when I rub it so this stuff has staying power. It dries to a matte but it doesn’t feel uncomfortable on the lips. I really like the shade for this time of year also. It’s almost like a reddish-brown color if I were to describe it. I really like this product and the size will last me awhile.

Here is a swatch of ‘Drivers Seat’ with no edit.
TOO COOL FOR SCHOOL Egg Mellow Cream ✨ full size: $36

The name can leave you confused.. or was it just me? lol I’ve sampled products from this brand before and I do really like them. So what this is is a 5-in-1 multitasking cream that’s made with egg extracts and collagen fiber. The collagen fiber works as a serum, priming moisturizer, eye cream, neck cream, and sleeping mask. Phew! The texture of this cream is different than your typical moisturizer. It has a stretchy texture which makes it ideal for tapping it into your skin vs. rubbing. I LOVE this stuff. I applied it before makeup and at night and I noticed a difference. It keeps my skin hydrated which is dry in the winter. I would definitely purchase a full size! (And it smells great, too.)

VERB Leave-In Mist ✨ full size: $14

Honesty is the best policy, right? I had high hopes for this! This product is formulated to detangle, moisturize & smooth your hair. It’s made with moringa seed oil and vegetable proteins. It’s a thicker consistency so I found it difficult to actually spray. I didn’t feel like this honestly did anything for my hair. (Bummer 😔)
NUDESTIX Intense Matte Lip + Cheek Pencil in Belle ✨ full size: $24

I was definitely looking forward to trying this! I didn’t use it on my cheeks but it’s a really pretty shade for the lips. It’s quite similar to the Smashbox shade except this one is more mauve/pink. It’s non-drying and I really liked it. You can apply it as a lipstick or liner OR blush. Can’t go wrong with something that’s multipurpose! 😉

This is a comparison of the Smashbox shade (L) and the NUDESTIX (R)
SKIN INC. Pure Revival Peel ✨ full size: $55

My skin has been looking rough lately (time of the month 🙄) so I was excited to try something on my skin. This is a non-abrasive peel that rids your skin of any dead skin cells. What I found interesting about this was that you apply it to clean skin and massage in circular motions. While you’re doing that, it starts to bead up! Then you rinse and moisturize. My skin did seem renewed after using this. I’d definitely work this into my routine.

TOM FORD Orchid Soleil ✨ (1.7 oz.) $120

I am pretty picky with perfume. It takes me a very long time to actually find something I like. One or two sprays of this and thats all you need. It’s so strong! But I like it. A lot. Which is surprising for me because I generally HATE warm and spicy perfumes. Top notes: Tuberose petals, cypress, pink peppercorn // middle notes: Black orchid, lily accords, clove bud // base notes: Vanilla, chestnut cream accord, vetiver, patchouli.
